day late and a dollar short

Does anyone else's grandmother say that?  My grandmother is full of little sayings like that and I find myself repeating them more and more these days. So in sticking with that, here are my 5 for Friday... on a Saturday.  Enjoy your weekend!

1
Meet my new love: soy cinnamon dolce latte, no whip. Not normally a fan of soy milk but Starbucks doesn't offer almond milk (at least, not to my knowledge). And this drink it AMAZING.  Do yourself a favor and skip the PSL in favor of this!

2
I cannot get enough of Katy Perry's new album, Prism.  It is so good!  I would list out my favorite songs but it would just turn into the entire song list. Seriously, go get it. And then blast it while you drive to Starbucks to try the soy cinnamon dolce latte.

3
We finally got our suits reserved at Men's Wearhouse! The associates were absolutely wonderful to work with so I highly recommend them.  We're going with a charcoal gray suit and white shirts, but only the pants and vest. No jackets.  Unlike other suit rental locations, Men's Wearhouse only charges by the individual pieces so that saved some money for our guys.

4
The wedding party shoes arrived for the guys! B saw this picture online and decided that was the route he wanted to go, so white Vans for all our guys.

5
I interviewed for an internship program last week and I thought the phone interview went really well.  Apparently, I was the only one who thought this. Received word this week that they are not interested in moving forward in the interview process.  Well, that must mean that there are better things ahead for me, right?

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend! I'm about to head into my LAST night shift for this course and I cannot wait to get it over with!

5 on Friday

1
Red quinoa has changed my life. I never realized how wonderful gluten-free could be until I discovered this stuff.  Plus, it is filling! Look for some recipes with it next week.

2
Advocare cleanse is going well.  My days and nights are hella mixed up from working night shifts so I'm sort of on day 7... I think? I'll post on it when I'm done but already down 4.5 lbs.  However, that may not be the case after last night which leads me to...

3
A big, fat, cream filled cookie sandwich.  Didn't take a pic because I was at clinical but you can imagine it looked like this.  And I ate the whole thing around 3am.  There was a party for a night nurse who is transitioning to days and the nurses brought amazing homemade food, most of which I resisted for healthier options. But at 3am I have very little will power and even though the cookie wasn't nearly as good as it looked, the sugar rush certainly helped out.

This came up when I Google image searched and it links to a pretty awesome sounding recipe.  You're welcome.

4
Last night was a pretty great night at clinicals, cleanse-fail aside.  I didn't have an opportunity to redeem myself at trying to insert an IV but I did put in my first Foley catheter.  It wasn't hard but it seems like the first time you try anything on a patient, you're going to be nervous.  We learned this skill way back in Adult 1 this summer and I had yet to have a patient that needed one inserted so I was thrilled to have the opportunity last night.  And, I'll spare you the details, but that is probably the last time I will ever be thrilled about inserting a catheter!

5
I just got home and had a very healthy breakfast (dinner?) but followed it up with a cookie.  Damn these sugar cravings!  Hopefully when I wake up this evening all my sugar cravings will have magically disappeared.  And while I'm at it, I wish for all those damn cookies at the hospital to be gone too by the time I return tonight.

Have a great weekend everyone!

5 on Friday with a little something extra!

Happy Friday!
Before I get into 5 on Friday, I have some potentially exciting things going on right now and I would greatly appreciate it if you could send some good vibes my way! I can't share any of it just yet, but if it all works out then I will let you know.

Thank you and on to the good stuff!

[1]
B has been back at work for 2 weeks now and it is glorious! Gone are the summer days where I had to drag myself out of bed to go to school/study/clinical while he slept/hung out at the pool/drank beer.  Now we're both on school schedules and I am loving it!

[2]
I joined the Neon Fresh DietBet in the middle of August - lose 4% of your weight in 4 weeks.  The final weigh in is September 16th and I haven't lost anything.  Actually, that's no true.  I've lost the 4 lbs I gained during the first week. (How is that possible, you ask? I blame the period from hell.)  But the thing is, I've been working out and eating right.  Not 100% clean eating, but healthy. Soooo it looks like that's $30 down the toilet and I'm a little pissed. We'll see if I can lose the 5.6 lbs I need to by then but I'm not holding my breath.

[3]
Notre Dame plays Michigan this weekend and I'm praying we pull out a win.  There are a lot of teams out there that I don't like (USC, Ohio State, UT) but I think that Michigan tops the list.

Aside from winning, I hope it's a good game to watch. And it should be since we're ranked #14 and they're ranked #17.

GO IRISH!

Tomorrow marks the first "long run" of my half marathon training.  I say that in quotes because it is only 4 miles, but I've never run that far so I'm a little nervous. Be sure to check back for (Half) Marathon Monday to see how it all goes down. Or if you can't wait that long, follow me on instagram!

[5]
My cute, little pregnant friend somehow convinced me to do 2 Pure Barre classes back-to-back this morning.  My legs feel like jello.  Hopefully that is not the case while I'm running tomorrow!

Pretty sure I'll be feeling both tomorrow!

What are you all up to this weekend? Any workout plans? Watching any of the games?

PS - If you somehow haven't seen this yet, take a 37-second break from whatever you're doing.

You're welcome!
